Day Of Infamy Review New World Interactive

Day Of Infamy

For anyone who has played Day of Defeat or Red Orchestra 2 then Day of Infamy is going to feel pretty familiar.

The game itself is set during World War 2 and covers everything from beach  warfare to the daunting task of street battles  and all in all is a hell of a lot of fun, one aspect that really stands out is the in game tension you can’t help feeling somewhat scared when you suddenly find yourself alone and every sound has you pulling that trigger and let me tell you there is nothing worse than being caught in artillery fire or a bombing run no amount of praying is going to help you, I can’t count the amount of times  I lay still barring breathing hoping somehow not to get hit only to find myself being blown  to smithereens, absolutely amazing how they have somehow added a fear factor in.

I should mention there is a lot more to this game than just bang bang, tactics also play a large part with no mini maps or radar to see where the enemy is having a good radio office by your officers side is a must to quickly calling up some artillery of air support both of which done at the right time can have a devastating effect.

As with all these types of games you get to choose your role be it an officer or a sniper all come with their own allotted equipment and just to mention watching a flame thrower incinerate everything in its wake is devastating so taking one of them out with my sniper rifle is always a pleasure, of course you also get to choose from an array of scenarios Bastogne, Crete, Reichwald and many more each with their own game tactics.

The graphics throughout a lavish and perfect for the time period combined with some brilliant sound effects that include audible comments like “take that you wanker” iconic don’t you think, just adding to the overall atmosphere of the game

world war 2 game

There is little doubt for me this is one of the best games I have played, the gameplay is good but the audio and atmospherics really make this game, I still have the jitters after going house to house trying to clear out some Germans.  Needless to say, they got me before I got them, next time!

Note: make sure you have a decent cpu, graphics card and memory or you may need to knock down the some graphic settings.
